CHOIR:
History:
Since 1994 the choir has been under the leadership of Anne-Marie Dippenaar. Mrs Riana Knoblauch has been the accompianist since 2004. In 1999 the choir reached the final of the ATKV Applous competition for the first time and thereafter, they received 6 Cum Laude awards and were the overall leaders four times for more advanced primary school choirs. In the local eisteddfods they performed very well: 22 times Cum Laude and 10 times as overall winners.
General:
The choir comprises 80 (average) learners. In order to qualify for the choir, learners must successfully pass three auditions. They practise for 3 hours per week (Tuesday 14:15 - 15:45) and Thursday 17:30 - 19:00) and sometimes on a Friday or Saturday (5 times per year). Choir members are required to be disciplined and to attend all practices and performances.
MUSIC DEPARTMENT:
The music department comprises 10 qualified educators who present lessons during school hours in piano, keyboard, recorder, flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, oboe, french horn and classical guitar. Learners annually participate in eisteddfods and external exams. Internal concerts are presented regularly. Fees are R80 per half hour.
